Happy New Year!

So, it's been an adventurous two weeks since I last posted something. Charlie was sick on the 27th and the 28th of December, but he pulled through okay and was back to normal by the 29th. However, Shaelynn started acting a little sick on the 30th and then we went to Taylor to my mom's house for New Years.

Here's Allen with his cousins Kaleb and Kenyon playing with grandma's pre-school toys. 12-31-08 Charlie being Charlie.
This is how Ben and Shaelynn rang in the new year... Shaelynn was running a low grade fever and Ben just kind of felt helpless, me too. I hate it when the kids are sick. 1-1-09Charlie slept through all the noise.Ben and Paul gave her a priesthood blessing.
Then I went outside to be with Allen for the celebration a little bit.Shaelynn woke up and they came in and joined in the New Year's festivities for a little bit.
We had some Martinelli's.
and some more......and so did Shae Shae! Allen and my family danced...
...and drank......and danced...
...and drank. (Allen got a whole bottle to himself this year so he felt like a big boy.)
Next morning we had our stockings. Dad helped Charlie get some treats. And we opened presents.
Allen is so picturesque!
Mommy likes to take pictures......and get presents from her mommy! (Incidentally it was a pneumatic paint spray gun! Mommy knows her daughter! Thank you Mommy!)
Allen liked everything he got too. Lots of books for this book worm!
Shaelynn was still running a fever and throwing up and just miserable so she went back to sleep all morning, but woke up at the end... ...and put a little effort into opening some of her presents. Charlie helped, of course.
Shae Shae got her stocking and loved to hold it. She started liking soft blankets and stuffed animals.
My mom made this really cool rocking plane from scratch for my nephew, Levi. That's the kind of stuff I want to make and sell when I'm not a crazy - busy mom.
Well, after the festivities were winding down and lunch was over, Ben suggested we run Shaelynn up to and Urgent Care in Show Low to make sure everything was okay. We left the boys with grandma. When we got there the doctor measured her oxygen saturation and said she wasn't getting enough into her blood and she was a little dehydrated. He put her on tank oxygen for 30 min and then tested her again, but recommended that we take her over to the emergency room and see what they thought. They tried to put an Ivie in both her arms and poked the needle right through the vain so she didn't get an Ivie, but she got 2 really big bruises. They deep suctioned her and tested for RSV and she was positive... again. So they admitted her.
We took turns holding her, but I held her for the Ivie cause daddy couldn't handle it. He had to leave the room. Look at that precious face!
He's has quite a tender spot for his little girl. Me too.
They came in and did breathing treatments all night and she stayed on oxygen. Next morning she was up and playing! 1-2-09
They discharged her later that evening, but said she needed to stay on oxygen when she slept and continue the breathing treatments. We went back to my mom's and stayed the night and then drove back to Ajo the next day.
Sunday I was set apart as the Ajo Ward Relief Society President. Candice Moore and Sally Lewis are my wonderful counselors. I am excited and optimistic for my new calling, but I know it will be a lot of work.
While passing through Mesa we met my Uncle Kenny at my Grandma's old house and he gave us a roto tiller and a little rocking horse for Shae Shae amongst other things. Now they don't have to fight over Allen's old one.
Charlie and Shaelynn rocking out! 1-4-09
This is what Allen did all day, as usual.
On Friday, the 9th we went out to Grandma and Grandpa Willis' farm to help build a corral for grandpa's cows. We all helped pound nails (even Charlie) and Ben helped dig post holes and haul and put up railroad ties. After a while Charlie and Shaelynn got bored and started searching out something of more interest. Charlie found this "Pokey" as he calls it. It was really nice and he played with it for about half an hour. I didn't have my camera, so I took some pictures with my phone. 1-9-09

So, the rest of Shae's story is I took her to her pediatrician in Mesa on the 5th and he said she also had an ear infection so he gave her some antibiotics. He also gave her a steroid for her chest and breathing and said to leave her on oxygen for 2 more days and to do breathing treatments every 2 hours until her cough was gone for 2 whole days. So, she is fine now: off oxygen and breathing treatments and just finishing up the rest of her antibiotics.
Ever since Shaelynn came into our family we've known she is a special spirit. She brings such a sweet feeling of tenderness into our home that wasn't here before. With her having RSV twice before she's even a year old Ben and I have both been aware of the possibility we could have lost her. I thank my Heavenly Father she is still with us and pray He will let her stay for a good long time.

Well, that's all I've got until next week! (and it's plenty for me!)

Glad to hear that your sweet little girl is feeling better! There is nothing harder then being in the hospital with your baby! We did that in 07 with Dani when she was only 22 months, for 3 days, and it is scary! Hang in there! Hugs!

What a sweet girl. And a trooper, from the pictures it looks like that oxygen tube didn't prevent her from playing!
